12 Die Of COVID-19 In Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Ministry of Health has declared that 12 persons, including a lawmaker, died due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) complications in the state.
The Deputy Director of Public Health in the ministry, Dr. Liman Mohammed, made the declaration to journalists yesterday in Lafia. Mohammed, who is also the Manager of Emergency Operation Centre of the COVID-19 response team in the state, said on Thursday, August 13, the state confirmed 371 cases.
He explained that 264 of the cases were treated and discharged, but 12 persons lost their lives.
Out of the number of confirmed cases, Karu Council alone has 120 cases, followed by Lafia with 108 and Keffi 90, he noted, urging the public to always adhere to safety protocols, including regular washing of hands under running water, use of face mask and physical distancing.
According to him, the virus is very much in the state and is now being transmitted in the communities. Liman added that the state had put in place lots of measures to stop the virus and urged members of the public to take personal responsibility to contain it.
He also disclosed that the ministry had trained secondary school teachers, before resumption, on ways to curtail the spread.
