Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Takes Tough Stance on Weeding Exams, Warns Training Institutions
Date Posted: 01/Jan/2020

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has observed with dismay that some nursing and midwifery training institutions indulge in admission of students beyond their approved quota and subsequently, weed off the excess students from the school at the end of three months through illegal examination.

1t is well known that the act of "weeding examination" is becoming a norm in nursing and midwifery training institutions in Nigeria and cannot be allowed to continue. Please note that the only acceptable examination in the training curriculum is semester examination.

Henceforth, institutions engaging themselves in weeding/illegal examination shall be liable to sanction through withdrawal of their accreditation status,

Accordingly, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, dissociates itself from weeding examination and the consequences that may arise from it shall be applied strictly.
