The Assistant Director of Nursing Services at the Orile-Agege General Hospital, Mrs Olayinka Adepoju, has urged nurses in the country to be abreast with the latest technology in the medical field.
Adepoju said this on Tuesday in Lagos at an event organised by the Oke-Odo Nurses Welfare Association, Orile-Agege General Hospital.
“This is a wake-up call for nurses to get trained and retrained in the use of health IT which is very important for us to provide adequate care for patients and help achieve health equity.
“Health IT supports the recording of patients’ data to improve health care delivery and allow for analysis of this information for health care practitioners, ministry of health and government agencies. The data is used for the implementation of policies to ensure an excellent discharge of duties.”
Adepoju further called on the government to ensure that the necessary equipment needed to discharge first-class duty was provided.
