Imagine A Nigeria Without Nurses
Date Posted: 28/Mar/2018
Nurses care. So why you should care?
Once more this question would be at the forefront of most minds due to the upcoming strike action in April 2018 by JOHESU and its partners.
Nurses, especially those in most private settings and sometimes in government facilities, are often misunderstood and taken for granted by patients, doctors, and the general population alike.
Blame it on patient to registered nurses ratio, the use of #QuacksInNursing or the government’s lack of appreciation for our modern Florence Nightingales, but our nurses in Nigeria clearly deserve MORE than what they get today.
We handle precious human lives on a daily basis along with other overwhelming stressors on the side. But what do we get? Almost always the short end of the stick or like they say we mostly get shafted if you get my drift.
We touch people’s lives in one way or another through the good and the bad, the joys and the pains. I think its about time the Nigerian Government and the populace start to appreciate nurses and their true value in the medical profession and in our society as a whole.
Nurses are abused. Nurses are exploited. Nurses are neglected. Nurses care. YOU SHOULD CARE TOO.
