Post Basic Student Nurses of UBTH Sabotaging Nurses Strike
Date Posted: 27/Aug/2013
Reports reaching Nursingworld Nigeria have confirmed that post basic nurses in the post basic school of nursing at the university of benin teaching hospital have been deployed by the Nursing heads of the school to man the wards/hospital units and hence effectively sabotage the aims and objectives of the current industrial actions called by JOHESU.

It would be recalled that JOHESU declared the strike four days ago over some demands it has with the Federal Ministry of health. An urgent call to the Edo state NANNM Chairman Mr Mathew uhunmwuagho revealed that he was not aware of this happenings and promised to personally call the school coordinator Mrs Obazee.S.A to order. He decried the fact that the heads of the school could enforce such an order mandating students nurses to take over the roles of the nurses whom were on strike. An unidentified caller/student at the school informed our crew that students of periop, accident & emergency, opthalmic and paediatric Nursing were all been FORCED to work and Sabotage the JOHESU Strike.

Mrs Obazee, the coordinator could not be reached on her personal mobile number 08035794949 as at time of writing this report
