Nigeria and Jamaica have agreed to resume the Nigerian Technical Aids Corps Programme (TAC), under which Nigerian professionals were deployed to Jamaica to share their know-how and expertise in fields such as nursing.
This was a major highlights of the agreements reached between President Goodluck Jonathan and Prime Minister Simpson Miller of Jamaica during bilateral talks in Kingston. President Jonathan was in Jamaica on a State-visit during which he attended the country's 178th Anniversary of Emancipation and the 50th Anniversary of Independence.
The talks between both leaders equally highlighted the existence of an Agreement on Cultural and Educational Cooperation between both countries, agreeing on the need to review cultural and educational exchanges.
President Jonathan used the visit to invite Jamaican Prime Minister to attend the planned celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the formation of modern Nigeria in 2014. Prime Minister Simpson Miller accepted the invitation to visit Nigeria in 2014.
