LASG Repositions HEFAMAA For Efficiency

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, says the state government has inaugurated its plans to reposition the state Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency for quick and efficient service delivery to curb quackery and ensure quality health care delivery.
 
A statement by the Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Mrs Adeola Salako, said the commissioner spoke at a meeting with the management of HEFAMMA in Ikeja.
 
He explained that the reorganisation of the agency became necessary to improve the quality and ease of access to services rendered by HEFAMMA.
 
Idris stated that the leadership of the agency would be invigorated for optimal performance and the achievement of set goals, especially in its mandate to eliminate quackery, illegal operations of facilities and other acts which contravene the state health law.
 
He added that the ministry was introducing e-HEFAMAA, a technological-based platform, to ease registration of facilities and other responsibilities of HEFAMAA.
 
“I have no doubt that the e-platform will make the operations of HEFAMAA less cumbersome while also availing facilities and members of the public the opportunity to interface with the agency seamlessly.
 
“Indeed, e-HEFAMAA will give the agency a leverage to improve on its mandate and broaden access to its services by the public. I assure Lagosians to expect effective and quick service delivery from the agency,” Idris said.
 
The commissioner also stated that as part of the revitalisation exercise, the government was mapping-out all health facilities in the state based on geographical location and services rendered for efficient and effective monitoring, adding that such is crucial in combating quackery and detecting unregistered facilities.
 
He stressed the need for health facilities across the state to adhere strictly to the state’s guidelines to safeguard the health of the citizenry.
 
Idris urged members of the public not to patronise any health facility not bearing the HEFAMAA logo and to channel complaints in respect of unprofessional conducts by health care providers or facilities to HEFAMAA office.
