UM-Flint Faculty Member Recognized With American Academy of Nursing Fellowship

Dr. Hiba Wehbe-Alamah, a professor of nursing at UM-Flint, has been selected for Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing. She will be inducted as a Fellow at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on November 3, 2018.
“This is an important acknowledgement of your outstanding contributions and achievements in nursing,” states the letter Dr. Wehbe-Alamah received from the academy which notified her of this recognition. She joined UM-Flint in 2006.
UM-Flint School of Nursing Dean Margaret Andrews said, “The School of Nursing is very proud of Professor Wehbe-Alamah for being chosen for induction as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. This is a distinct honor and recognition of her significant contributions to nursing and health care throughout her career.”

Wehbe-Alamah has an international reputation as an expert in Culture Care Theory, the Ethnonursing Research Method, transcultural health care, cultural competence, cultural diversity, and the care of Arab Muslim cultures.
“Being awarded Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing is a great honor and responsibility,” said Wehbe-Alamah. “I view this recognition as a call to action for ongoing efforts aimed at promoting the health and well-being of culturally diverse people all around the world.”
