Louisiana Nurses Foundation (LNF) was the host of more than 450 nurses and supporters from all over Louisiana at its 17th annual Nightingale Awards and Gala. The annual event recognizes the achievements of nurses, hospitals, and nursing programs across the state in a variety of categories.
This year, the Louisiana Nurses Foundation received the highest number of nomination applications to date for both individual and institutional award categories.
“This is an evening to honor all professional nurses across Louisiana, and to give special recognition for those who have gone above and beyond in their practice.” said John Wyble, Executive Director of the Louisiana State Nurses Association and Louisiana Nurses Foundation.
Nightingale Award winners of 2018 are:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse of the Year: Tracie Major, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center;
Nurse Researcher of the Year: Karen Rice, Ochsner Medical Center- New Orleans;
Rookie of the Year: Tabitha Khidirov, University Medical Center of New Orleans;
Registered Nurse Mentor of the Year: Dianne Douglas, LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing;
Clinical Practice Nurse of the Year: Meredith Cooper, Baton Rouge General Medical Center;
Clinical Nurse Educator of the Year: Katherine Roberts, Northern Louisiana Medical Center;
Nursing Administrator of the Year: Joseph Eppling, University Medical Center New Orleans;
Outstanding Community Achievement by a Registered Nurse: Lindsey Bufford and Lauren Courville, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital;
Nursing Educator of the Year: Janis Guilbeau, University of Louisiana at Lafayette;
Nursing School Administrator of the Year: Donna Hood, Louisiana Tech University;
Registered Nurse of the Year: Ahnyel Jones Burkes, Ochsner Health System;
Nursing School of the Year – Undergraduate Program: Louisiana State University Health New Orleans, School of Nursing;
Nursing School of the Year – Graduate Program: Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University School of Nursing;
Outstanding Employer of the Year: Louisiana Healthcare Connections;
Hospital of the Year (60 beds or fewer): The Spine Hospital of Louisiana;
Hospital of the Year (61 to 160 beds): St. Elizabeth Hospital;
Hospital of the Year (161 beds or greater): Ochsner Health System.
