Healthcare Providers Told to Invest in Training

Health service provider in Kogi state especially government hospitals has been charged to invest vigorously on the training of their workers in the area of human relations to enhance high productivity and quality healthcare service delivery to the patients.
The management consultant of O and M management Associate Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu gave the charge in Lokoja yesterday during a workshop organised by the Federal Medical Centre , Lokoja
According to him the workshop which was organized for Nurses and Health workers of the centre , is to enhance the human capital development and human relations of the staff for effective service delivery whenever they attend to patients in the hospital.
According to him, the theme of the workshop “Enhancing human relations and effective service delivery in hospital settings for nurses and allied health workers” was timely considering the role play by the workers to ensure that patients go back home in healthy conditions.
He note that “The patients in most cases passes through high level of agony as a result of human relation on the side of the health providers. Some of the patients are most often than not send to their early graves due to improper attention arising from the human interaction which was not given to the patients.
” The essence of this workshop is to draw the attention of the staff of federal medical centre , Lokoja to all the inadequacies that has been hampering the good relationship between the health workers , nurses and the patients and how best such can be addressed”
He commended FMC for organising the workshop and urged other health institutions in the state to do the same in order to contribute to the well being of patients in Kogi state.
In a paper presented by Dr J.O Fayeye of the university of Ilorin, titled “Evolution of human relations in work place”, Fayeye said every patients that seek healthcare in the hospital had the believe that he will go back home healthy and happily, lamenting that the attitude of some healthcare providers both in public and private sectors aggravated the pains of the patients.
He noted that the workshop was organised to enhance the capacity of the participants and to improve their ability toward human relations.
