Jipmer conference aims to highlight critical thinking, logical reasoning and creative application of nursing models and theories
A two-day conference that began at Jipmer on Tuesday is foregrounding critical thinking, logical reasoning and creative application of nursing models and theories which are at the core of evidence based nursing practice.
The conference on “Transformation of knowledge from theory, practice and research to enhance the patient care’ has been designed to help nurses working in these areas to keep pace with the latest research advances and be assertive in their practices which should be evidence based for efficient and effective patient care.
Inaugurating the meet, Dr. Subhash Chandra Parija, Director, Jipmer, called for strengthening practice based curriculum for nurses and to focus on the research avenues to benefit common patients in receiving better health care services.
Dr. R.P. Swaminathan, Dean (Academic), in his felicitation address urged nurses to be be updated on current issues and knowledge, and apply them professionally in their settings.
Dr. Ashok Shankar Badhe, Medical Superintendent, Jipmer, said nursing care should evolve holistically in theory, practice and research areas, and this should reflect in the beat nursing care services. He advocated increasing practical hours for nursing students to gain more knowledge on various health and disease conditions. Dr. M.J. Kumari, Principal (in-charge) and Dr. Lakshmi Ramamoorthy, Assistant Professor also participated.
Around 500 delegates from all over India are participating in the conference which features a host of scientific paper presentations.
