The Student Union Government, School of Nursing of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado Ekiti gave an Award of Honour to Dr. Babatunde Olofinbiyi, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gyanecologist as the Patron of the association. The event took place on Monday, 11th of September, 2017 during this year Students Union Week.
The award came in recognition and appreciation of his immense contribution, selfless commitment, benevolence and outstanding contribution to mankind, the health profession and the society at large.
Dr Babatunde Olofinbiyi is a Senior Lecturer, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a Minimal Access Surgeon at the Ekiti State College of Medicine, Ado Ekiti. While presenting the award, the Principal of the School, Mrs Bamgboye T.O eulogied Dr Olofinbiyi for his empathy and astute professionalism in handling his patients and students which endeared him to them.
The choice of Dr Olofinbiyi by the SUG was premised on his excellent teaching skills, mentorship and sterling leadership qualities which many of their members enjoy when they rotate through the O&G Department for their training.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe expressed happiness and satisfaction for the honour given to him. In his words, he said, “Dr Olofinbiyi’s award by the SUG of the School of Nursing is a confirmation of his commitment and tireless efforts to make EKSUTH one of the best in Nigeria in the area of materno-fetal training and care in Nigeria. Appointing him as the Chairman of the Capacity Building Committee of EKSUTH is a round peg in a round hole. I will enjoin him not to rest on his oars”.
