NANNM FMC Ido-Ekiti, Withdraws All Nursing Services
Date Posted: 08/Jun/2017
The National Association Of Nigeria Nurses And Midwives at the Federal Medical Center Ido- Ekiti today the 8th of June 2017 withdrew all Nursing Services to the Healthcare facility.

In a Memo sent to Nursingworld Nigeria and tittle: "NOTICE OF WITHDRAW AL OF SERVICES WITH INLMEDIATE EFFECT." The Nurses decried the attitude of the Management of the hospital towards its Nurses. The Memo read as follows:

We wish to register our displeasure with the insensivity of the Hospitals Management towards the welfare of our members as contained in several letters written and meetings held in that respect. Despite these avenues explored there has been no responses or positive impact on the part of the Hospital Management.

However, we observed that some group of staff have been paid certain allowances owed them while our members (Nurses) have been denied payments of any of the outstanding payments owed to them.

We see this as a deliberate act of provocation and insensitivity on the part of the management towards the welfare of our members. This issues have brought forth protracted agitations and tensions among our members which necessitated an emergency congress where it was resolved that Nursing Services be withdrawn with immediate effect and till further notice, until the following conditions are met:

. Employment of Nurses to mitigate against the short fall in Nursing personnel in the hospital (it is no longer tolerable where a Nurse runs a shift alone, our patients cannot get the best of care in these conditions)
. lt is high time the management recognises Nursing as a Professional body and treat us as such.
. The management should also improve the working conditions in the hospital.
