NANNM President Decries Poor State of Health Facilities in Nigeria
Date Posted: 07/May/2017
The President of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Abdulrafiu Adeniji has decried the poor state of health facilities in the country, arguing it has made midwives not to perform optimally on their jobs.

He therefore called for a stronger health system and well-equipped facilities that make healthcare accessible, especially those in rural communities.

Speaking at the International Day of Midwives celebration in Abuja, Adeniji, who expressed concern over the high level of disharmony in the nation’s health sector, noted that the health sector is heading towards doom if the disharmony is not urgently addressed.

He observed that health is a multi-disciplinary industry that recognises the unique practice within the profession.

Also speaking, Mrs. Margaret Akinsola called for greater investment in the sector to increase the number of midwives and enhance their service delivery, as they are the pillars of solution to maternal and child health.
