The Ondo State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives has called for an emergency session/congress of all Nurses in the State to discuss government proposal. Nurses in the State are currently on an indefinite strike over unpaid seven month salary arrears.
The newly inaugurated governor of the state at a meeting with the state labour leaders had urged health workers in the state to call off their ongoing strike in the interest of the state, a call which they ignored. A meeting was also held yesterday between the government and union leaders in the health sector.
Today's congress is meant to intimate the nurses in the state about government proposal and deliberation on whether to call off the four weeks old strike or not. The congress has the power to call off strikes or continue usually through voice votes.
We urge all available nurses to attend the session
Time: 11am Nigerian Time
Venue: Nurses House, Adjacent School of Nursing and Midwifery, Igbatoro Road, Akure.
